BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team could not maintain its early intensity against No. 4 Georgetown (Ky.), falling to the Tigers 73-50 in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference tournament on Sunday evening.
The Blue Raiders started out of the gate hot and made five of their first six shots to take a 12-3 lead, but multiple scoring droughts in the first half allowed the Tigers to open a sizeable lead.
Georgetown used a 12-1 run across a three-and-a-half-minute span to take a 15-13 lead, then later held Lindsey Wilson scoreless for eight minutes to grow its advantage to double-digits and eventually take a 32-20 lead into halftime.
The Blue Raiders improved their field goal percentage by five points in the second half. However, it was not enough to track the Tigers down the stretch.
Julian Cunningham hit 4-of-8 from 3-point range en route to a team-high 15 points.
Connor Robinson added eight points, and
Kenyata Carbon finished with seven points as Lindsey Wilson shot 29.8 percent from the field and 7-of-22 on 3-pointers.
The NAIA National Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 6.
