Men's Basketball Opens Mid-South Tournament on Sunday

3/2/2025 12:00:00 PM

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raiders are set to kick off their Mid-South Conference men's basketball tournament campaign against the No. 4-ranked Georgetown Tigers (Ky.) at 5:00 p.m. CST on Sunday inside Studle Financial Arena at Bowling Green High School.

Lindsey Wilson (16-12, 3-9 MSC), the sixth seed in the tournament, is looking to upset the second-seeded Tigers (25-3, 9-3 MSC). In their most recent meeting on February 8, the Blue Raiders fell to Georgetown 74-68, with Kenyata Carbon and Daivel Jackson being the only two players to hit double digits in scoring. With the tournament being a single-elimination format, the Blue Raiders will need a complete team effort and disciplined basketball to advance to the next round.

Lindsey Wilson brings an impressive offensive attack, averaging 80.5 points per game and leading the conference with a 37.5 percent shooting percentage from beyond the arc. With their strong inside and outside game, the Blue Raiders must be sharp from all areas of the floor, where they shoot 47.5 percent overall.

Georgetown comes into the game with a talented squad, led by senior guard Jaquias Franklin, The Tigers' leading scorer. He is supported by four other double-digit scorers, including Jabrion Spikes, Tae Dozier, Andres Burney, and Darien Lewis. Georgetown will be a challenge, but the Blue Raiders have the potential to take down the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA. The Tigers swept the regular season series with Lindsey Wilson by an average of six points.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST at Studle Financial Arena, with live coverage on the Mid-South Conference Sports Network.

The winner of Sunday's game advances to 7:30 p.m. CST on Monday's against the winner of Sunday's nightcap between Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Campbellsville (Ky.).
