GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team split on the first day of the Gulf Shore Invitational Friday at Gulf Shores Five Plex falling to Thomas (Ga.) 2-1 and defeating Point (Ga.) 8-3.
Kendall Dailey drove in the lone run for the Blue Raiders.
Hallie Roberts got the start pitching two innings while allowing one run on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
K'Asia Palmer recorded two innings allowing one run on five hits with a walk.
Kayden Murray pitched three innings giving up just one hit, one walk, one hit batter and striking out four.
Nora Epley and
Sam Hartman each had a pair of hits in the victory over Point.
Kaiden Rodgers drove in three runs while Hartman and
Brylee Pickerell drove in a pair each.
Kayden Murray earned the win pitching 5-2/3 innings of relief allowing no runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.

The Night Hawks struck first in the second inning scoring a run to take a 1-0 lead. Thomas added to its lead in the top half of the third inning on an RBI-single. Epley drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the third and reached second on a stolen base. Dailey then doubled to left field driving in Epley to make it a 2-1 deficit.
Hartman led off the bottom of the sixth with a double. Following back-to-back outs,
Brylee Pickerell singled advancing Hartman to third. The Blue Raiders were unable to capitalize as Thomas got the final out of the inning. Epley reached on a two-out walk in the seventh before Dailey flew out to end the game.
Lindsey Wilson 8, Point 3
Point got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly. The Skyhawks increased their lead to 3-0 in the second inning on a two-RBI double. Back-to-back errors to begin the top of the third had runners on second and third. Hartman drove in the Blue Raiders' first run with an RBI single to center. Pickerell tied the game with a two-RBI single to center field.
Neither team was able to score over the next three innings as the game remained tied at 3-3 heading into the seventh inning.
Atavya Fowler led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on an Epley single. Dailey drew a walk which loaded the bases before Rodgers hit a bases-clearing double giving Lindsey Wilson a 7-3 lead.
Katie Lorenz increased the lead to 8-3 on an RBI-single to left. Murray retired Point in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 8-3 victory.
The Blue Raiders are back in action Saturday for day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational at the Gulf Shores Five Plex taking on Faulkner (Ala.) at 3:45 p.m. CT and No. 13 William Carey (Miss.) at 6 p.m. CT.
