Men’s Tennis Power Past Freed-Hardeman to Advance to MSC Championship Match

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The top-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team took care of business on Thursday evening with a commanding 4-0 sweep over No. 5 seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament at the Warren County Tennis Facility. The Blue Raiders will play for the MSC tournament title tomorrow. 

The No. 6-ranked Blue Raiders (14-3) got out to a fast start in doubles. At No. 1, the 22nd-ranked duo of Hans Schubert and Santiago Passoni made quick work of No. 31-ranked Maxime Guyon and Merlin Bolema, earning a 6-1 victory. Moments later, German Delcanto and Aldo Randazzo secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Carlos Garcia and Nolan Laduree, giving Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Doubles play at No. 2 went unfinished with Marçal Miret and Lucas Marques ahead 5-2.

In singles, the Blue Raiders carried the momentum into the next phase. No. 22-ranked Miret dominated from start to finish at No. 4, defeating Pablo Poleo 6-0, 6-1 to push the lead to 2-0. Marques followed at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Garcia, extending the advantage to 3-0.

Randazzo delivered the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Laduree at No. 6 singles, sealing the 4-0 win and sending Lindsey Wilson into the tournament final.
The rest of the matches went unfinished. No. 63-ranked Schubert was leading Guyon 6-2, 5-2 at No. 1, while Delcanto, ranked No. 37 nationally, and Passoni, ranked No. 15, were both ahead in tightly contested second sets on courts two and three, respectively.

The Blue Raiders will be back on court Friday at 3 p.m. for the MSC Tournament championship. They will face the winner of the other semifinal between Cumberland (Tenn.) and the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
