COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson baseball head coach Ethan Utley has announced the promotion of Throne Gray from graduate assistant to assistant coach.
"I am excited about Coach Gray being elevated to the full-time assistant position," says Utley. "Thorne has done a lot of good things for Lindsey Wilson in his time as a Graduate Assistant and former member of the baseball team. He has excelled in all that he has done on the hill."
Gray graduated from Lindsey Wilson in May with his master's degree in business administration. During his two years as a graduate assistant, he helped manage the Blue Raider outfield, assisted with recruiting, oversaw the team's efforts in the weight room, and aided the coaching staff with field care at Egnew Park.
Prior to that, Gray was a full-time student-athlete with the Blue Raider baseball team from 2019 to 2023. He finished his career with 41 hits, four home runs, and 28 RBIs in 89 games. Gray was also a three-time Mid-South Academic All-Conference selection and a 2022 Mid-South Champions of Character Team representative while pursing his bachelor's degree in psychology.
"Through the interview process it became very clear that he was the right guy for the position," says Utley. "I am excited to see him grow as he takes another step forward in his coaching career."
