Football Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule With Trip to Reinhardt

COLUMBIA, Ky. -  The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule Saturday with a trip to Waleska, Georgia to face Reinhardt (Ga.) at 1 p.m. CT at Ken White Field.

The Blue Raiders (3-0) are coming off a 52-24 victory over then-No. 8 St. Thomas (Fla.) last week. Lindsey Wilson totaled 520 yards offense in the win with 315 coming on the ground. Reigning Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week Davontaye Saunders tallied 161 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns. Stevin Mack added 128 yards on the ground with 11 carries. Tate Rice threw four touchdowns for the second consecutive game.

MSC Defensive Player of the Week, Cameron Rankins totaled a game-high 11 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss. Jamarques Frank forced a fumble while Ronald Carr returned an interception for a touchdown.  Jadan Burns earned MSC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after connecting on all seven of his extra points and making a 34-yard field goal.

Rice's eight touchdown passes are tied for the most in the NAIA while Khia Sherrard's six touchdown receptions lead the nation. Offensively, Lindsey Wilson ranks 10th in the NAIA averaging 44.7 points per game. The Blue Raiders are averaging 452.7 yards per game ranking 13th. This season, Lindsey Wilson is allowing 12.3 points per game, 292.7 yards per game, and 53.3 rushing yards per game. Rankins leads the Blue Raiders with 21 tackles while Lou Burchfield has a team-leading three sacks.

Reinhardt enters Saturday's matchup with a 1-2 record after falling to then-No. 17 Southeastern (Fla.) 41-20. The Eagles totaled 303 yards of offense while allowing 433 in the loss. Taylor Jackson completed 14 of his 23 passes for 144 yards while throwing a pair of interceptions. Jah Colbert led the rushing attack with 39 yards on nine carries.  This season, Reinhardt is averaging 29 points and 333.3 yards per game while allowing 35.3 points and 364.3 yards per game.

Saturday's games marks the sixth all- time meeting between the two schools Reinhardt leads the all-time series 3-2 with each team having won a game in Waleska. Lindsey Wilson won the last meeting 23-22 on November 19, 2022 in the first round of the NAIA Football Championship Series in Columbia.

Kickoff between the Blue Raiders and Reinhardt is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT Saturday at Ken White Field.
