COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team travels to Jackson, Tennessee, on Saturday, September 6 for a neutral-site matchup against No. 15 Oklahoma Wesleyan at the University School of Jackson.
The Blue Raiders enter the contest looking to bounce back from a hard-fought 2-1 loss to then-5th-ranked William Carey (Miss.) last weekend. Through the early part of the season, Lindsey Wilson has shown an aggressive attack, recording 42 shots compared to just 30 by its opponents. Offensively, Vitória Loiola and Ashiat Naluggwa lead the team with two goals apiece, and both seek to help lift the Blue Raiders in their bid for an upset.
In goal, freshman Demi Serman anchors the defense with 11 saves so far this season. As a unit, the Blue Raiders rank third in the Mid-South Conference with 38 saves, limiting opponents to a 20 percent conversion rate. That defensive presence will be critical against an Oklahoma Wesleyan squad that is known to capitalize on its chances.
The Eagles are coming off a 2-0 win over MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) and are led by Ana Chavez, who has scored two goals this season. Oklahoma Wesleyan has been efficient in front of goal, converting 57 percent of its shots on frame while holding opponents to just seven shots per game. To counter, Lindsey Wilson will rely on its pressure and pace of play to disrupt the Eagles' rhythm and create scoring opportunities.
The Blue Raiders and Eagles kick-off at 11 a.m. CT. No live video will be available for this neutral site match but live stats are provided at lindseyathletics.com.
