Carbon Claims Third Straight MSC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson student-athlete Kenyata Carbon was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

The Owensboro, Kentucky, native earns his eighth career honor, fifth of the season, and third consecutive weekly award, becoming the first in Lindsey Wilson history to achieve the feat and the first in the Mid-South Conference since Pikeville's Bruce Reed in the 2013-14 season after another dominant stretch on the court.

Carbon led the Blue Raiders to a pair of Mid-South Conference victories last week, averaging 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting an impressive 70 percent (24-of-34) from the field.

He opened the week with a career-high 32 points, including the game-winning layup at the buzzer, in Lindsey Wilson's 76-74 road win over Campbellsville (Ky.) in the Battle of Highway 55. Carbon went 12-of-17 from the floor, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line while adding five rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

The junior guard followed that performance with another standout effort in a 79-73 home victory over Cumberland (Tenn.), setting a new career high with 33 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also tallied four assists and a steal while shooting 12-of-17 from the field and 7-of-9 at the line.

Carbon's consistent scoring and leadership have fueled Lindsey Wilson's four-game winning streak and perfect 2-0 start in conference play.

The Blue Raiders return to action against second-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at 7:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 15.
