Blue Raiders Swim Past Tennessee Southern on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Ky. - In their first meet back from break, the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams coasted past Tennessee Southern for a "Senior Day" sweep at the Holloway Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders won all 32 events on Saturday en route to a 198-45 victory for the men, and a 179-22 triumph for the women.

Jose Rivas led the men's side with two individual victories as he swept the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes. Clinton Eales clocked an NAIA provisional mark of 58.10 seconds to win the 100 breaststroke, and Lorenz Hof added a national cut of his own in the 100 freestyle -- 47.70 seconds.

Dan Spinola capped Lindsey Wilson's sweep of the breaststroke events by taking the 200-yard race at 2:14.13. Dario Soria and Sirhaan Mia captured the 100 and 200-yard butterflies, respectively, while Adam Lamhiti topped the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:02.92.

Four different Blue Raiders won the four remaining freestyle events. Max van Schagen (50 yards), Sergio Ybarra (200), Akram Nejjar (500), and Ethan Butler (1,000) each tallied wins for Lindsey Wilson.

On the women's side, Nathalie Medina went three-for-three in her individual efforts, winning the 200 individual medley, 1,000 freestyle, and the 200 butterfly with an NAIA provisional standard time of 2:14.08.

Natalia Gorska also turned in a trio of solo wins, all in freestyle events as she claimed the 100, 200, and 500-yard races. The 50-yard sprint went to Ela Cippico as part of her two individual victories. She added a win in the 200 backstroke.

Sara Motyl swept the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes, Emma Verkuijl sealed the 100 butterfly, and Hannah Woyscheszik hit the wall first to take the 100 backstroke.

Lindsey Wilson emerged on top in all of the day's relays. In the men's 200 medley, Soria, Mia, Spinola, and van Schagen scored first, then Rivas, van Schagen, Cameron Johnson, and Azahn Hicks teamed up to win the 400 freestyle.

As for the women, Cippico, Motyl, Verkuijl, and Gorska won the 200 medley, and Woyscheszik, Medina, Emma Jonannson, and Lara Reis claimed the 400 freestyle.

The Blue Raiders host their final meet of the regular season next Saturday, January 24 when they welcome Campbellsville (Ky.) for the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational.
