COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team claimed the Highway 55 rivalry with an 83-68 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday night inside Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (15-5, 4-1 Mid-South Conference) were sharp from start to finish, shooting 56 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.
Kenyata Carbon led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Mihail Gavazov followed with 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while
Victory Naboya added 16 points and five boards. Off the bench,
Esteban Oliveras provided 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from deep, and
DJ Gordon chipped in eight points.
Lindsey Wilson took control early, responding to an opening Campbellsville run with a balanced attack led by Carbon and Gavazov. Midway through the first half, back-to-back threes from Gavazov and Naboya pushed the Blue Raiders in front. A late burst, capped by a Carbon layup in the final minute, sent LWC into halftime ahead 43-36.
The Blue Raiders continued their hot shooting in the second half, opening with a 12-2 run highlighted by threes from Carbon and Gavazov to stretch the lead to 51-36. Naboya dominated inside with a string of baskets that made it 60-41, and Oliveras later buried a pair of threes to push the margin past 20.
Campbellsville tried to rally behind Ra Briggs and Eli Brooks, but the Blue Raiders maintained control on both ends.
Jordan Turner's late three sealed the 83-68 victory as Lindsey Wilson secured its second straight conference win.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, January 31, when they travel to Lebanon, Tennessee, to face Cumberland (Tenn.) in a Mid-South Conference matchup at 3 p.m. CT.
