OWENSBORO, Ky. – The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team opened the 2026 season with a dominant 7-0 victory over NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at Centre Court.
Antonina Butrova and
Mariangeles Mateu defeated Ella Brown and Angela Ho 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Mayra Gisone and
Martina Cortal clinched the doubles point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-0 victory over Baylie McCreary and Sara Osorio in the second-seeded doubles match.
Javiera Verdugo and
Heyka Rodriguez defeated Kamerson Knight and Anna Bongardt 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Verdugo increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Brown at No. 4 singles. Gisone pushed the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Bongardt at No. 1 singles. Cortal clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Knight in the second-seeded singles match.
Mateu won 6-1, 6-0 over Ho at No. 3 singles,
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles over McCreary, and
Hang Nguyen won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles against Osorio.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Friday for the First Round of the NAIA National Indoor Championships against No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett at 4:30 p.m. CT in Rome, Georgia.
