Fourth Quarter Scoring Drought Plagues Women’s Basketball in 75-62 Loss Vs. Georgetown

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Blue Raider women's basketball team fell to (RV) Georgetown 75-62 on Thursday night in Biggers Sports Center.

Meadow Tisdale led all scorers with 29 points on 12-of-20 from the floor and nine rebounds. Taylor Guess rounded out the double-figure scoring with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting and nine rebounds.

Tisdale knocked down a free throw at the 7:00 mark to end Georgetown's 4-0 run to start the game for a 4-1 score. A layup from Tisdale at 5:53 sparked an 8-0 Blue Raider run to push Lindsey Wilson ahead 11-5 with 3:51 left in the first quarter. Both teams went scoreless the last 2:22 with LWU taking a 15-7 lead into the second quarter. 

A jumper from Guess at 6:43 ended a 7-0 Tiger run that started the quarter to edge the Blue Raiders ahead 17-14. From 5:51 to 1:39 both teams traded buckets with Georgetown tying the game at 25-25. With 0:03 on the clock, Tiger Daysha Reed knocked down a triple to take a 28-25 lead over Lindsey Wilson headed into halftime. 

From 9:52 to 7:46, Lindsey Wilson went on a 9-4 run to give them a 34-32 edge over the Tigers. At 7:43 both teams began trading buckets back and forth, keeping it a one-possession game with six ties and six lead changes with Georgetown pulling ahead 51-50 headed into the final ten minutes of action. 

Saniyah Shelton opened the fourth quarter scoring with a layup on an assist from Jarie Thomas to give LWU a 52-51 lead with 9:20 to play. A three from Amelia Hodges on an assist from Emily Cox at 8:35 pushed the Blue Raiders ahead 55-52. A jumper from Tiger Anna Long at 7:49 pushed Georgetown ahead 57-55 but was answered with a 4-0 LWU run to put the Blue Raiders ahead 59-57 with 6:51 left in regulation. Georgetown closed the game on an 18-3 run for a final of 75-62 in favor of the Tigers. 

Women's hoops will be back in action on Saturday at 12 P.M. CT in Williamsburg, Kentucky to face the No. 21-ranked Patriots of Cumberlands (Ky.) in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.
