COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team completed the four-game series sweep against Goshen College (Ind.), Monday afternoon at Egnew Park with a 12-8 victory.
Blue Raider (6-5) starting pitcher
Cassian Bartholomew pitched 4 ? innings, throwing 95 pitches, allowing three hits, four runs (two earned), walking four, and striking out eight.
Jacob Jackson got his first win this season. Jackson pitched 3 ? innings, throwing 55 pitches, allowing two hits, one run, walking one, and striking out two. Goshen's (1-10) starting pitcher, Jarrett Willoughby, threw two innings, allowing two runs, walking one, and hitting two batters. Chris Godden led Goshen with two hits, while
Diego Andino, Orion Hahm-Taklander, and
Isaac Samano each had three hits for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson scored two runs in the first inning off Willoughby.
Caden Davis scored on an error, and Andino scored on a double play. Goshen got on the scoreboard when Dylan Pearson drove in Nick Padron on an RBI single, making the score 2-1. The Blue Raiders scored in the bottom of the inning when
Andres Duran doubled home Davis to make the score 3-1.
The Maple Leafs scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead 4-3. Lindsey Wilson took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning courtesy of a Samano two-run home run, driving in Hahm-Taklander. LWU scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Ty Croghan drove in Samano and Hahm-Taklander with a two-run single. Andino drove in Croghan and Bradford with a two-run double to left field.
Zane Gist drove in Davis with an RBI single to right field. Andino scored on an RBI groundout, and Gist scored on an Amir Pineiro bases-loaded walk.
Goshen scored four runs in the top of the ninth, eventually bringing the tying run to the plate.
Levi Wade earned his first save of the year after coming in with the bases loaded and securing the victory for Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders are back in action, hosting No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 3:00 p.m. CT at Egnew Park.
