COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team swept Georgetown 7-0 on Sunday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga and
Mariangeles Mateu defeated Joana Gomez and Pyper Wasch 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Martina Cortal and
Mayra Gisone clinched the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson (5-2, 2-0 Mid-South Conference) with a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles over Anna White and Emma Jury.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Mateu increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jury at No. 3 singles. Gisone gave Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Molly Archer in the top-seeded singles match. Cortal won the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Abigail Moss at No. 2.
Rodriguez defeated Joana Gomez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Verdugo and Trillo earned victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the court on Saturday, March 7, with a matchup at Campbellsville (Ky.) at 10 a.m. CT.
