Women’s Wrestling Finishes Eighth at NAIA Championship; Five Blue Raiders Earn All-American Honors

WICHITA, Kan. - The Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team finished eighth at the NAIA National Championship on Saturday at the Heartland Credit Union Arena while posting five All-American finishes.
 
The Blue Raiders totaled 76 points over the two-day event to finish eighth, topping last year's finish of 16th.  
 
Kamilah Brooks and Kori Campbell began the day vying for a spot in the finals at 124 and 145, respectively. Brooks dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Indiana Tech's Rose Kaplan in the semifinals. She then fell 8-3 to Bismarck State's (N.D.) Rei Ogden in the consolation semifinals. Brooks earned a late second-period pin of Alyssa Randles of Providence (Mont.) to finish fifth
 
Campbell was pinned by Wayland Baptist's Jordan Suarez in the semifinals. Campbell then defeated Missouri Valley's Brooke-Lynn Rush in the consolation finals 10-0. In the third-place match, she edged out Southern Oregon's Holland Wieber 2-1.
 
Grace Lashinsky earned All-American honors at 117, finishing in fifth. Lashinsky advanced to the consolation semifinals with a 5-4 decision over Joely Slyter of Providence. She was then defeated by Grand View's (Iowa) Cailin Campbell 11-0. Lashinsky pinned Carolina Rios of Texas Wesleyan in the fifth-place match.
 
Jeila Ramos finished sixth at 131 pounds, earning All-American honors. Ramos began her day with a 13-2 tech fall of Larissa Kaz of Hastings (Neb.) to advance to the consolation semifinals. She was defeated by Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence 11-0. Ramos was then defeated by William Penn's (Iowa) Kendall Bostelman 11-0 in the fifth-place match.
 
Hayeni Costa earned All-American honors, finishing in eighth at 207 pounds. Costa fell to the seventh-place match after dropping a 5-4 decision to Life's (Ga.) Madeline Welch. Costa was then pinned by Ottawa's Kylee Lindsley.
