COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated (RV) McPherson (Kan.) 7-0 on Friday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (8-1) have now won their last five matches.
Martina Cortal and
Mayra Gisone defeated Vanessa Hofer and Laureen Van Drunen 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Mariangeles Mateu and Blanca Trillo Pita de Veiga clinched the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-0 victory over Luisa de Lama and Eve Lesteluhu at No. 3 doubles.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Gisone defeated Hofer 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0. Cortal pushed the Blue Raider advantage to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Taimi Nashiku. Verdugo clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Bella Ellerbee in the third-seeded singles match.
Hang Nguyen won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, while Trillo and
Antonina Butrova won at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday, hosting No. 10 Marian (Ind.) at 2 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
