COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 15 Marian 6-1 on Monday at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 8-1 on the season, having won their last six matches.
Raul Safont and
Aldo Randazzo defeated Marc Soriano and Iyan Cresens 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Lev Sholosh and
Lucas Marques clinched the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-3 victory over Mateo Guerin and Juan Garcia-Tunon in the top-seeded doubles match.
Facundo Grasso increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Guerin at No. 2 singles.
Miguel Mateo Larrea gave the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Soriano at No. 3 singles.
Lev Sholosh clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson with a win at No. 1 singles against James Ashworth. Sholosh dropped the first set 6-3 before rallying to win the next two 6-0, 6-4.
Safont defeated Marcos Ramos Cabrera 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Marques earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles. Marian's lone win came at No. 6 singles when Garcia-Tunon defeated Randazzo 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (12-10).
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday, hosting No. 22 Cumberland (Tenn.) at 2 p.m. CT in a Mid-South Conference matchup at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
