ELKHART, Ind. - Clinton Eales snapped his own school record as Blue Raider men's swimming closed day three of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in 11th place on Friday.
During the preliminary heats in the morning session, Eales shaved 0.07 seconds off his program-best time in the 100 breaststroke, getting back to the wall at 55.26 seconds to grab a spot in the "B" final.
Teammate
Dan Spinola clocked in less than a second behind to join Eales in the consolation heat, finishing 15th while Eales ended up 10th.
Adam Lamhiti narrowly missed out on the "B" final but he managed to log a personal-best time in 18th place -- 56.40 seconds.
Sergio Ybarra grabbed his second individual All-American award of week in the 400 individual medley. His seventh-place time of 3:59.32 makes him just the second swimmer in program history to finish top-eight in the event at the national championships.
The 400 medley relay team of
Lorenz Hof, Eales,
Jose Rivas, and
Max van Schagen ended the evening session in 11th place. The foursome recorded a season-best time with their efforts, notching 3:23.27.
Lindsey Wilson sits in 11th place overall with 95 team points.
The fourth and final day of the national championships begin at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 7. Slated to compete includes the 1,650 freestyle (
Ethan Butler,
Oliver Greaves, and Ybarra), 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle (van Schagen and Hof), 200 breaststroke (Spinola and Eales), 200 butterfly (Rivas), and the 400 freestyle relay.
