Baseball Heads to Georgetown for Weekend MSC Series

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raider baseball team travels to Georgetown (Ky.) this weekend for a three-game series starting on Friday at 5 p.m. CT at Robert N. Wilson Field. 

Games two and three are scheduled for a Saturday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. CT. 

The Blue Raiders enter the series with a 14-22 overall record, while 4-8 in Mid-South Conference play. The Tigers enter the series with a record of 8-27 and 1-11 in conference play, and have lost their last 15 games.

The Blue Raiders are coming off a 16-3 drubbing of  Union Commonwealth (Ky.) on Tuesday at Egnew Park. The Tigers are coming off an 11-10 defeat at Shawnee State (Ohio) on Tuesday.

Offensively, Lindsey Wilson is led by a pair of graduate students in Bryce Sidler and Andres Duran. Sidler is batting .324 with an OPS of .829, while also collecting 21 RBIs. Duran is leading the team in batting average (.339), OPS (1.014), doubles (11), and slugging percentage (.576). Jack Ballou and Cassian Bartholomew are two bright spots for Lindsey Wilson. Ballou has a 6.99 earned run average, with a 2-2 record, 46.1 innings pitched, and 48 strikeouts. Bartholomew has an ERA of 6.32, with a 3-1 record, 37.0 innings pitched, and has held opponents to a .248 batting average against.

Georgetown is led by a pair of sophomores in Elijah Verge and Davis Johnson. Verge leads the team in batting average (.328), stolen bases (13), hits (41), and runs (25). Johnson is batting .317 with 14 RBIs, seven doubles, and 39 hits. The Tigers' pitching staff is led by seniors Ashton Deskins and Chris Lenocker. Deskins leads the Tigers in wins (3), saves (2), ERA (5.46), while throwing 29.2 innings in 14 appearances, and striking out 21. Lenocker leads the Tigers in innings pitched (46.2), strikeouts (32), and starts (9), to go along with a 7.91 earned run average.

Game one is scheduled to begin on Friday at 5 p.m. CT at Robert N. Wilson Field, with games two and three scheduled for a Saturday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. CT.
