Flag Football Defeats Phoenix 33-13 at Home

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Blue Raider flag football team defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) 33-13 Friday night in Parnell Family Stadium.

Amaya Pablo led the team in passing completing 23-for-39 attempts for 260-yards and four touchdowns. Pablo also led the team in rushing with 56-yards and one touchdown. Jenna Lindsey and Demi Serman both tallied two touchdowns apiece. Defensively, Emerson Gregory led the team with eight tackles and one interception while Harper Gregory had a team-high two interceptions. 

Lindsey Wilson's defense opened the game with a statement with Harper Gregory picking off Phoenix Madison Woodard in the first drive of the game returning it to the Phoenix 30. The Blue The Blue Raiders capitalized on the turnover scoring first on a five-yard touchdown pass from Pablo to Lindsey at the 4:19 mark. Harper Gregory picked up her second interception of the game the next Phoenix drive, setting up another touchdown drive with Pablo finding Lindsey in the endzone again to take a 13-0 lead to close the quarter. 

The Blue Raiders built onto their lead in the second quarter at the 8:32 mark on a 1-yard rush from Pablo to extend the lead to 20-0. After forcing the Phoenix to turn it over on downs in a 39 second drive, Lindsey Wilson tallied 30-yards in 36 seconds for a Serman touchdown from 5-yards out, increasing the lead to 26-0 with 0:39 on the clock. The Phoenix went the length of the field, finding the endzone to cut the LWU lead to 26-7 headed into halftime. 

Both teams went scoreless in the third quarter. The Phoenix struck first in the final quarter in a seven-play 45-yard drive to cut the lead to 26-13 at the 6:31 mark. Lindsey Wilson scored the final touchdown of the game at 2:20 on a pass from Pablo to Serman to secure the 33-13 victory for LWU. 

Flag football will be back in action on Wednesday in Franklin Springs, Georgia, to face Emmanuel (Ga.) at 3 P.M. CT and Milligan (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. CT.
