COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-0 victory over (RV) Missouri Baptist on Senior Day Saturday at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Bue Raiders improve to 14-1 and have won their last 11 matches.
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga and
Mariangeles Mateu defeated Jocelynn Carmody and Bissola Lassissi 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo secured the doubles point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1 victory over Yvonne Shannon and Melissa Jangarasheva in the top-seeded doubles match.
Martina Cortal and
Mayra Gisone won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Gisone increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Shannon in the top-seeded singles match. Cortal pushed the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lassissi at No. 2. Mateu clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Carmody at No. 3 singles.
Rodriguez won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, while
Hang Nguyen and Trillo won at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday, April 18, for the Mid-South Conference Tournament Semifinals at the Warren County Tennis Facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
