BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The top-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 5 seed Bethel (Tenn.) 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at the Warren County Tennis Facility.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders advance to the championship match on Sunday at noon CT against the winner of No. 2 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) and third-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.)
Mayra Gisone and
Martina Cortal (No. 3-ranked doubles in NAIA) defeated Paula Milla Becerra and Claudia Gonzalez Pastrana 6-1 in the second-seeded doubles match.
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga and
Mariangeles Mateu (No. 17-ranked doubles in NAIA) clinched the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 7-5 victory over Lavinia Anais Karadza and Camila Barragan Cana at No. 3 doubles.
Trillo increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Cloe Casado at No. 5 singles. Mateu (ranked No. 53) pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Becerra. Gisone (ranked No. 17) clinched the victory for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Cana in the top-seeded singles match.
The MSC Championship match takes place on Sunday at noon CT at The Warren County Tennis Facility.
