COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 18 Oakland City (Ind.) 6-1 on Thursday at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 11-2 and have won their last nine matches.
Miguel Mateo Larrea and
Facundo Grasso defeated Michael Wassef and Agustin Siufi 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Jose Andres Perez Perez and Alejo Chlpac defeated
Lev Sholosh and
Lucas Marques 6-4 in the top-seeded doubles match. Oakland City claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory from Nelson Ramos and Juanes Pinto over
Aldo Randazzo and
Raul Safont at No. 3 doubles.
Sholosh tied the match 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Perez Perez. Larrea gave the Blue Raiders a 2-1 advantage with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Chlpac at No. 3 singles. Grasso pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Samarbir Sidhu at No. 2 singles. Safont clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Louki Nivarlet in the fourth-seeded singles match.
Marques won 6-3, 6-3 over Luis Cordoba at No. 5 singles. José David Tobar Sánchez won 6-1, 6-7, 10-5 over Pinto at No. 6 singles.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday, April 9, traveling to Henderson, Tennessee, for a Mid-South Conference matchup at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at noon CT.
