COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 24 Oakland City (Ind.) 7-0 on Thursday at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 11-1 and have now won their last nine matches.
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga and
Mariangeles Mateu defeated Juliana Puente and Melissa de Jong 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo earned the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-1 victory over Silvia Fernandez de la Pradilla and Berta Ladaga Auge 6-1 in the top-seeded doubles match.
Martina Cortal and
Mayra Gisone won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Gisone increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Silvia Fernandez in the top-seeded singles match. Cortal defeated Auge 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead. Mateu clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Maria Trembach at No. 3 singles.
Trillo defeated de Jong 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while
Hang Nguyen won 6-1, 6-3 over Puente at No. 5 singles.
Antonina Butrova defeated Fabienne Nowak 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday, April 9, traveling to Henderson, Tennessee, for a Mid-South Conference matchup at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at noon CT.
