HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team captured its 19th Mid-South Conference regular season championship on Monday with a 7-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).
With the victory, the Blue Raiders have won their last 10 matches and are 12-1 overall, going a perfect 6-0 in MSC play.
Mayra Gisone and
Martina Cortal defeated Elise Kruzan and Morgan Brown 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga and
Mariangeles Mateu earned the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-0 win over Anna Harder and Audrey Harder at No. 3 doubles. In the top-seeded doubles match,
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo won 6-0.
Cortal won 6-0, 6-1 over Kruzan at No. 2 singles to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0. Gisone blanked Suri Gomez 6-0, 6-0 in the top-seeded singles match to push the Blue Raider lead to 3-0. Mateu clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Brown at No. 3.
Verdugo defeated Anna Harder 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Trillo and Rodriguez earned victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Blue Raiders close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting (RV) Missouri Baptist at 10 a.m. CT at The Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
