Flag Football Completes Comeback in 33-28 Victory at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Blue Raider flag football team defeated (RV) Campbellsville (Ky.) 33-28 Friday night in Finley Stadium. 

Amaya Pablo led the team in passing, completing 22-of-40 attempts for 219-yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Gabby Kruse led the team in receptions with eight for 50-yards and the game winning touchdown. Kruse also led the team in tackles with five, while Emily Good tallied two interceptions for a pick-six. 

Pablo found Kruse with 0:26 seconds on the clock in the fourth quarter to take a 33-28 lead after trailing 28-27 with under two minutes to play in regulation.

Campbellsville struck first at the 8:51 mark after Lindsey Wilson's first drive of the game ended in an interception on a pass by Pablo, with the Tigers taking a 7-0 lead. The Blue Raiders answered back with an eight-play drive where Pablo found Jenna Lindsey from two-yards out to lock the game at 7-7 with 4:55 left in the first quarter. Campbellsville took the lead back on its next possession to take a 14-7 lead headed into the second quarter. 

Good intercepted Talkington's pass on Campbellsville's first possession of the second quarter to put the Blue Raider offense on the field at the 19-yard line. Lindsey Wilson converted on the turnover with a four-play drive for a touchdown from Pablo to Cadence Wermers from six-yards out to cut the deficit to 14-13 at the 6:00 minute mark. The Tigers answered back with a 66-yard touchdown with 5:44 on the clock to lead 21-13. Pablo led the Blue Raiders to a 66-yard touchdown drive of their own, finding Carley Yokley from four-yards out to cut the deficit to 21-20 with 2:18 on the clock. On the next possession, Good intercepted Talkington's pass again for a 15-yard pick-six to give LWU the 27-21 lead headed into halftime. 

Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless in the third quarter with Campbellsville completing a 10-play drive, resulting in a 23-yard touchdown and a 28-27 deficit for the Blue Raiders headed into the final quarter. 

After both teams fell short of completing two drives apiece, Lindsey Wilson took possession with 1:24 on the clock. On third and 14, Pablo found Yokley to set up fourth down and three to go. Pablo's pass was incomplete on fourth down, but a defensive pass interference was called, giving the Blue Raiders a fresh set of downs for a first and goal at the 13. Pablo rushed for eight-yards, setting up second and goal at the five. Pablo found Kruse in the endzone for a touchdown and a 33-28 lead with 0:26 left in the game. The LWU defense held Campbellsville to secure the 33-28 victory for Lindsey Wilson. 

Flag football will be back in action next Friday in Parnell Family Stadium to face Cumberland (Tenn.) at 4 P.M. CT.
