COLUMBIA, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson volleyball head coach
Josh Kreiner has announced the addition of Carolynne Dutra Barbosa as the program's next assistant coach.
A former Blue Raider middle blocker from 2015-17, Barbosa returns to Columbia after helping Lindsey Wilson enjoy one of the most successful stretches in program history. During her three-year career, she appeared in 83 matches and helped lead the Blue Raiders to three Mid-South Conference regular-season championships, three MSC Tournament titles, and the 2017 NAIA National Championship.
"I am very excited to have Carolynne on staff," Kreiner said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge to our program, and having a Lindsey Wilson graduate aboard will be immensely valuable to our culture and will help in our growth as a program. Carolynne has many connections in Brazil, Texas, and the Kansas junior college system. I cannot wait until the fall!"
Barbosa earned numerous accolades during her playing career, including NAIA and AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2015. She was also named AVCA All-Region in 2015 and earned honorable mention All-Region recognition in 2016. A two-time First-Team All-Mid-South Conference selection, Barbosa was also a two-time Mid-South Conference All-Academic Team honoree and earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition in 2017.
She finished her career with 466 kills behind a .351 attack percentage -- which actively ranks fifth all-time. Her status in the middle also led her to 228 blocks at a rate of .93 blocks per set. Both marks rank inside the program's career top-10.
"Coming back to Lindsey Wilson as a coach feels like a full circle moment," expresses Barbosa. "I'm grateful to
Willis Pooler and Coach Kreiner for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to return to a program that means so much to me. I am excited to write this new chapter and help our student-athletes succeed on and off the court."
Barbosa graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2018 with a degree in human services and counseling before completing a master's degree in health and human performance from Fort Hays State University (Kan.) in 2023.
She joined the Fort Hays State volleyball coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2021 before becoming a full-time assistant coach in 2023 and serving in that capacity through the 2025 season.
