(RV) Volleyball Brushes Off Pikeville at Home

COLUMBIA, Ky. –The (RV) Lindsey Wilson volleyball team continued its strong start at home on Tuesday, sweeping Pikeville (Ky.) 3-0 at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders found themselves in a back-and-forth battle to open the match, with the Lady Bears building a 14-11 advantage following three consecutive points. Lindsey Wilson responded with an 11-4 run of its own, taking a 22-18 lead and forcing a Pikeville timeout. The stoppage did little to slow the Blue Raiders, as Luisina Sandrone Tais took over from the service line with a five-point run to help Lindsey Wilson close the set 25-18.

Lindsey Wilson carried that momentum into the second set, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. The Blue Raiders' defense continued to disrupt the Pikeville attack throughout the frame, holding the Lady Bears to a .000 hitting percentage. Lindsey Wilson pulled away down the stretch to claim the set 25-15 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set featured a much tighter battle, with neither side able to create significant separation. The teams battled through 15 ties as the lead changed hands throughout the frame. Lindsey Wilson found the difference late, earning a 27-25 victory to complete the three-set sweep. Natalie Wandrie struck for five kills on six attacks in the third set.

The Blue Raiders finished the match with a 42-30 advantage in kills and hit .228 as a team. Lindsey Wilson also controlled the service line with 11 aces and recorded eight blocks, while limiting Pikeville to two blocks and a .116 hitting percentage.
