COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team hits the road for the first time in 2026, traveling to Jackson, Ohio, on Saturday to take on Rio Grande (Ohio) at Holzer Field at Alumni Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
 
The Blue Raiders (2-0) enter play on Saturday coming off a 52-6 victory over Ave Maria (Fla.) last week. Lindsey Wilson outgained the Gyrenes 500-153 in the win. Max Gainey tied the program record for receiving touchdowns in a game for the second straight week with three. Gainey caught nine passes for 193 yards. Davontaye Saunders scored three rushing touchdowns, going for 191 yards on 17 carries. Saunders is now tied for fourth all-time with 29 career rushing touchdowns. Tate Rice completed 12 of his 18 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Defensively, the Blue Raiders limited Ave Maria to just 52 yards rushing on 24 carries. This marked the first time Lindsey Wilson held an opponent to under 100 yards rushing and did not allow a touchdown since September 6, 2025, and the first time an opponent was held to under 200 yards since November 4, 2023. Braden Ford led the Lindsey Wilson defense with five tackles and 0.5 sacks. Letavion Everly and Kevin Wilson each recorded four tackles for the Blue Raiders. Tayden Russell added 0.5 sacks, while Kelson McKinney recorded an interception.
 
Through two games, Lindsey Wilson ranks seventh in the NAIA in points (52.0), 12th in rushing yards per game (254.0), and 16th in yards per game (491.5). Defensively, the Blue Raiders rank 15th, allowing 210.5 yards per game.
 
Saunders ranks first in the NAIA in yards per carry (13.6) and in touchdowns with six. Gainey is tied for first in receiving touchdowns (6), second in yards (351), and third in receiving yards per game with 175.5.  Rice's six passing touchdowns are tied for eighth-most in the NAIA.
 
Rio Grande enters Saturday's matchup 0-1 after falling to Defiance (Ohio) 58-23 in its season opener on August 29. Jacob Winters threw for 178 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the loss. Dariyonne Bryant caught three passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Braylon Robertson led the RedStorm defense with 14 tackles, while Cole Hines also recorded double-digit tackles with 10.
 
Saturday's matchup is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
