COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 10 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated No. 6-ranked West Virginia Tech 5-0 on Monday, Sept. 14, on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. 

Juliano Manfro led the way for the Blue Raiders (4-2), scoring two goals and recording an assist. The Golden Bears (1-1-3) outshot Lindsey Wilson 16-7 but failed to capitalize against Zahir Garcia. Renny Caicedo and Tobias Lopez joined Manfro by scoring a goal; Facundo Torres and Juan Sola each recorded an assist. Denilson Macon had a shot that resulted in West Virginia Tech committing an own goal. Garcia saved seven shots and recorded his second clean sheet of the season. 

After a flurry of shots from the Golden Bears in the early minutes of the first half, the Blue Raiders struck first. In the 18th minute, a corner kick from Macon went straight to Sola, whose shot was deflected off a defender, but the ball bounced straight to Manfro who was able to score his first goal of the game. 

In the 28th minute, the Golden Bears goalkeeper Ramon Ferrari was out of position trying to clear a ball that went to Caicedo, who was able to flick the ball over the head of a scrambling Ferrari to make the score 2-0 heading into half. 

Early in the second half, Lindsey Wilson kept up the momentum from the first half. In the 48th minute, Sola sent the ball to Torres, who ran the ball all the way into the keeper box then found Manfro, who scored his second goal of the game. 

In the 60th minute, Macon's corner kick found Manfro again, who found Lopez wide open in the box, and he was able to make the score 4-0. 

In the 69th minute, Yannick Maurer sent Macon on a run, who was able to get a shot off. The ball hit off the post, but it ricocheted off the back of Ferrari, and it resulted in an own goal for the Golden Bears making the score 5-0. 

The Blue Raiders will go back on the road on Thursday, September 17, to face Mid-South Conference opponent Bethel (Tenn.) at 7:30 p.m. CT.
