WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 10 Cumberlands Tuesday night at the UC Volleyball Gymnasium. The Blue Raiders dropped the first set 25-14 before Cumberlands claimed the second and third sets 25-20 and 25-18, respectively.
Cumberlands took an early lead in the opening set and continued to build its advantage throughout the frame. Lindsey Wilson battled to stay within reach, but the Patriots pulled away late to secure a 25-14 victory and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set opened with Lindsey Wilson taking an early lead before Cumberlands responded. The Blue Raiders stayed within striking distance throughout the frame, but the Patriots maintained their advantage and closed out the set 25-20 to move within one set of the match victory.
Lindsey Wilson again opened the third set with an early lead and remained within reach through the opening points. Cumberlands gradually extended its advantage as the set progressed, but the Blue Raiders continued to battle. The Patriots ultimately closed out the third set 25-18 to complete the 3-0 victory.
Luisina Sandrone Tais led the Blue Raiders with 11 kills and added eight digs, while
Tully Bew recorded nine kills and three block assists.
Sofija Pjevic contributed five kills and two block assists, and
Gabi Zuquelo finished with three kills, one solo block and one block assist.
Addison Janes recorded 22 assists and five digs, while
Momo Hampton led Lindsey Wilson defensively with 13 digs.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, hosting the University of Rio Grande (Ohio).
