COLUMBIA, Ky. – For the seventh time in his career and first time this season, Lindsey Wilson junior Sergio Ybarra was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Ybarra and the Blue Raiders opened the 2026-27 season with a strong performance at the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy over the weekend. The Venezuelan won all four of his individual events, posting national cuts times in each, while also helping Lindsey Wilson win two relays.

The highlight of the weekend came in the 1,650-yard freestyle, where Ybarra posted an NAIA "A" standard time of 15:29.20. His time was 1:51.19 ahead of the runner-up and came just 1.65 seconds shy of his own school record in the event.

Ybarra also recorded provisional qualifying times in the 200 butterfly (1:53.33), 400 individual medley (4:05.35) and 500 freestyle (4:30.74).

Ybarra led off Lindsey Wilson's winning 800 freestyle relay and swam the butterfly leg on the victorious 400 medley relay.

Sergio and his Blue Raider teammates are back in the pool at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday, October 14 at Shawnee State (Ohio).
