Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer Beats Auburn Montgomery 4-2 in Battle of Ranked Teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Auburn University Montgomery 4-2 on Saturday.

AUM (13-3-2) scored the game's first goal in the opening half as Olina Sigurgeirsdottier scored on a penalty kick to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.

The No. 13-ranked Senators took the 1-0 lead into the break.

Lindsey Wilson responded in the second half with back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead.

Lindsey Wilson junior midfielder Marie Gallagher scored her eighth goal of the season in the game's 61st minute to tie the score at 1-1.

Gallagher assisted on the Blue Raiders (12-3-1) next goal as she fed junior forward Jill Lirbank-Almbaek for the go ahead score. Lirbank-Almbaek's goal was her seventh of the season and her 56th of her career. She is just nine goals away from becoming the program's all-time leader in goals scored.

AUM's Victoria Ekwenuke tied the game at 2-2 in the game's 75th minute as she beat Lindsey Wilson freshman goalkeeper Mia Moeller in a one on one battle just in front of the Senator's goal.

But No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson responded with consecutive goals for the second time in the match to take a 4-2 lead and eventually the win.

Lindsey Wilson freshman midfielder Pernille Jorgensen scored her seventh goal of the season at the 85:32 mark to give the Blue Raiders the 3-2 lead.

Forty-five seconds later Blue Raider forward Rowena Alsanea scored her 10th goal of the season to give Lindsey Wilson the 4-2 lead. Alsanea's goal, at the 86:17 mark, tied her for the team lead with junior Hishamar Falconer and freshman Daniela Schwarz. The trio's 10 goals mark the fourth consecutive season that three Blue Raiders have recorded double-digit goals.

Moeller records her 10th win of the season, allowing two goals and stopping six AUM shots.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, October 25, as the Blue Raiders end the regular season at Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
