PULASKI, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team fell to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College 2-1 in double overtime the NAIA Region XI Women's Soccer Tournament Finals on Tuesday at the East Campus Soccer Field.
Martin Methodist sophomore forward Amanda Johansson broke a 1-1 tie in the first minute of the second overtime when she scored from deep inside the penalty box to give the RedHawks their first regional championship.
With the win, Martin Methodist (20-1-0) earns the automatic bid into next week's NAIA National Tournament in Olathe, Kansas. Lindsey Wilson (16-4-1) will receive one of the at-large bids into the tournament.
The Blue Raiders opened the game's scoring at the 40:50 mark as junior forward

But Lindsey Wilson, playing without starting forward
Rowena Alsanea and midfielder Jodi-Ann McGregor due to minor injuries, was on the defensive most of the match. Martin Methodist out-shot the Blue Raiders 21-6 for the match.
Martin Methodist's attack finally paid off at the 78:31 mark as freshman defender Julia Bazi headed in the game-tying goal off junior defender Johanna Botold's cross.
In the second overtime, Bazi served the ball into the penalty box and Johansson sealed the win.

Mia Moeller allowed both goals while stopping seven Martin Methodist shots. Martin Methodist sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Prendergast allowed one goal and collected two saves.
Lindsey Wilson must now wait to see who their first round opponent will be in the national tournament which begins on Wednesday, November 16, in Olathe.
