COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team took a 48-19 halftime lead and cruised to an 86-56 win over visiting Cumberland (Ky.) College in the final 2004-05 regular-season game on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.
Lindsey Wilson finished the regular season with a 27-3 overall record and 8-2 record in the Mid-South Conference.
The Blue Raiders claimed a share of the MSC regular-season title with Georgetown (Ky.) College. Both teams finished MSC play with an 8-2 conference record, but Georgetown receives the MSC tournament's top seed because the Tigers swept the season series against Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson used a 20-2 run midway through the first half to take a commanding 38-13 lead with 4:59 left in the first half.
During the eight-minute Lindsey Wilson run, Cumberland was held to 1-of-15 shooting and was forced into five turnovers.
Overall in the first half, the visiting Patriots (21-7, 6-4 in the Mid-South Conference) shot 23.3 percent (7-of-30) from the field and missed all six of their three-point attempts.
Lindsey Wilson -- whose seven seniors played their final game at Biggers Sports Center -- scored eight of the final 10 poitns of the first half to give the Blue Raiders a 48-19 halftime lead. (Lindsey Wilson's seniors ended their career with a 52-12 record at Biggers Sports Center.)
Cumberland scored the first six points of the second half and cut the Blue Raider lead to 55-30 with 14:24 left in the game, but would the Patriots would not get any closer.
Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to as many as 36 points (78-42) en route to the season sweep of the Patriots.

Jared Barnes scored a game-high 16 points, all in the first half, and grabbed eight rebounds in the win. Senior

Cumberland junior Patrick Cureton was the lone Patriot in double figures with 10.
Lindsey Wilson, the No. 2-seed of the MSC Tournament, receives a first-round bye. The Blue Raiders will open postseason play at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, March 4, in the tournament semifinals against the winner of Thursday's Cumberland-Campbellsville University game.
