JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team dropped three of four games at Mid-South Conference foe Lambuth (Tenn.) University over the weekend.
The Blue Raiders fall to 6-17 on the season and 3-9 in the MSC with the 1-3 weekend. Lambuth improves to 16-23 overall and 6-6 in conference play on the season.
Lindsey Wilson scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning to win game one of the series 5-3.
Lindsey Wilson senior Amy Rice and junior Leigh Oakley's RBI doubles in the extra inning proved to be the game winners. Oakley finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Sophomore Kasey LaDuke pitched all eight innings for her team-leading fifth win of the season.
In game two, Lambuth scored six unanswered runs to beat the Blue Raiders 6-1.
Freshman Kim Guy led the hitting attack with a pair of hits. Senior Amanda Lucas supplied the lone run batted in.
In game three of the two-day series, Lambuth's Sheena Bezugley tossed a two-hit complete game shutout to beat the Blue Raiders 1-0.
LaDuke suffered the loss, despite allowing just one run and five hits over seven innings of work. LaDuke had one to the two Lindsey Wilson hits. Oakley had the other.
In the final game of the series, a pair of Lindsey Wilson errors allowed three unearned Lambuth runs in a 6-4 Blue Raider loss.
Rice led the Blue Raiders with three hits and a pair of RBIs. Freshman Jessica Halladay contributed two hits, two runs and a RBI in the loss.
Oakley suffered the loss in relief, allowing four runs -- one earned -- and five hits in 5-2/3 innings of work.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 5, as they host Cumberland (Tenn.) University at Joe Johnson Little League Complex.
