COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference softball tournament opens a week from Wednesday on April 29, and while all seven teams know they are safely in the bracket, the question remains as to where the tournament will take place.
Lindsey Wilson (36-5, 12-3 MSC) is hoping its lead atop the conference standings holds for a couple more days as the Blue Raiders host (RV) Campbellsville (Ky.) (27-13, 11-4 MSC) April 23-24 at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.
The Tigers lost their first five conference games of the season but have won 11 straight, including their last nine as part of an active 14-game winning streak.
Senior infielder Korey Harris and junior infielder Jessie Daniels have conducted the offense through Campbellsville's stretch of wins. The latter of the two has hit for extra bases a dozen times of her 16 hits, driving in a team-high 23 runs in the process. Meanwhile, Harris' 20 hits and 17 runs scored are both top marks in the line-up.
The pair are each hitting plus-0.350 with runners in scoring position this season. As a team, Campbellsville hits 0.331 with runners in scoring position, which is third-best in the league.
Four different Tiger pitchers have earned wins over their last nine conference games. Ellie Coley is 3-0 in six relief efforts with a 0.71 earned run average, and Emma Markham is also 3-0 across six starts.
Lindsey Wilson comes into this series on a six-game winning streak, during which
Sam Hartman is batting 0.526 with 10 hits and five RBIs. The senior has five runs batted in on five hits in four career games against Campbellsville.
Hartman, as well as
Kaiden Rodgers,
Nora Epley, and
Aubrey Miller have all reached base in at least five consecutive games. Rodgers is 6-for-16 with nine RBIs and six walks drawn in her last six outings. Epley's three doubles in her last six games are a team-high in that span, and Miller is hitting 0.400 since the start of the Ohio Christian series on April 14.
Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville meet three times beginning at 4 and 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 23, then close the series at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, April 24.
