COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team scored three second-half goals to defeat Georgetown (Ky.) College 4-1 in the Blue Raiders' Mid-South Conference opening game on Wednesday night at Lindsey Wilson Park.
Lindsey Wilson (7-1-1, 1-0-0 in the MSC) got the scoring under way when senior defender
Anu Eskelinen knocked in a blocked shot from 20 feet out at 4:39. It was her her first goal of the season.
Georgetown (3-3-0, 1-1-0) then tied the game 1-1 at the 32:40 mark on a goal by Tiger midfielder Brittany Yadon.
In the second half, Lindsey Wilson needed less than three minutes to break the tie -- at the 47:59 mark, freshman forward
Daniela Schwarz scored her fifth goal of the season. Junior midfielder
Hishamar Falconer followed with a penalty kick at 55:35 to join Schwarz with a team-high five goals on the season.
Blue Raider sophomore midfielder
Sashsheena Stewart capped the scoring at 79:01 with her first goal of the season.
For the game, the No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders out-shot the Tigers 11-9.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mia Moeller turned away three Georgetown shots, and Tiger sophomore goalkeeper Megan French had three saves.
