Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team moved to 2-0 in Mid-South Conference play for the first time in the program's history with a 49-41 win over host Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Thursday night at the Powell Athletic Center.
Lindsey Wilson, who joined the MSC in 2000-01, is tied atop the MSC with Georgetown (Ky.) College and Lambuth (Tenn.) University. Lindsey Wilson improves to 14-6 overall on the season with the win. Campbellsville falls to 8-13 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The No. 22-ranked Blue Raiders dominated the first half, leading at the break 30-16. The Lindsey Wilson defense limited the Lady Tigers to 26.9 percent (7-of-26) shooting in the opening half, including zero of seven from beyond the three-point arc.
In addition to its stifling first-half defense, Lindsey Wilson shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) on its offensive end to more than double the Lady Tigers at the break.
The Blue Raiders used their defense to spur the offense. Lindsey Wilson, who forced Campbellsville into 24 turnovers for the game, scored 21 points off the Campbellsville miscues. But Lindsey Wilson could not shake the turnover bug either, committing 22 turnovers themselves.
With the Lindsey Wilson turnovers and frigid Blue Raider second-half shooting (8-of-28 after the break), Campbellsville climbed back into the game in the second half. The Lady Tigers cut the Blue Raiders' lead to five points on three different occasions.
But Lindsey Wilson answered the final Campbellsville runs to secure the win and remain unbeaten in conference play.
