PULASKI, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team ended Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College's 20-match unbeaten streak with a 4-1 win on Sunday at the East Campus Soccer Complex.
The game matched the last two NAIA National Champions, Lindsey Wilson in 2004 and Martin Methodist last season. The No. 4-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 10-2-0 with the win, while the top-ranked Redhawks fall to 9-1-0 with the loss.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Kristen Pedersen, returning from a four-game absence due to an injury, scored the game's first goal in the 26th minute off freshman Omalyn Davis' first assist of the season. Pedersen's goal ties her for the team lead with seven on the season.
Davis added to the Lindsey Wilson lead in the 32nd minute with her second goal in as many games to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. The score remained 2-0 entering the half.
In the second half, Martin Methodist sophomore Marcia Silva scored the lone Redhawk goal of the game in the 48th minute to cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-1.
But the Blue Raiders responded with a pair of goals six minutes over a six-minute span to expand the lead to 4-1.
