Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Another frigid night of shooting resulted in a third straight loss for the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team tonight at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (0-3) shot 28.4 percent (21-of-74) from the field -- including 3-for-27 (11.1 percent) from behind the three-point arc -- in an 80-70 loss to visiting Langston (Okla.) University.
For the season, Lindsey Wilson is shooting 34 percent from the field, including an arctic-like 17.6 percent on three-pointer attempts.
Although Lindsey Wilson struggled to find the target, Langston continued the early season trend of opponents out-shooting the Blue Raiders -- for the game Langston (3-0) made 61.5 percent (32-of-52) of its shots.
Lindsey Wilson trailed just 36-30 at the break despite hitting nine of 32 first-half field-goal attempts. The Blue Raiders kept the game close thanks to strong work on the boards and 10 Langston turnovers, which LWC converted into 13 points.
For the game, LWC out-rebounded Langston 46-35; the Blue Raiders forced the Lions into 23 turnovers while committing just 11 miscues.
LWC tied the score at 48-48 with a little more than 11 minutes left in the game.
But then Langston scored the game's next eight points to take a 56-48 lead with 9:27 left. The Lions extended their lead to 10 points on three different occasions and led 69-59 with 3:01 remaining.

Shola Aladejebi and
Tiffany Reid combined on the next seven points to cut the lead to 69-66 with 1:54 left. But that's as close as the Blue Raiders could get. Langston closed the final two minutes with an 11-4 run.
Langston guard Matalya McBath-Blevin scored eight of the next 10 points to ice the game. McBath-Blevin ended with a game-high 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Reid led the Blue Raiders with 18 points. Juniors
Kara Osterfeld and
Moneta Anderson each contributed double-doubles. Osterfeld scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Anderson added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Cheslee Elkins scored 12 points off the bench.
Langston's Teneisha McKinney scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
