COLUMBIA, Ky.- Terran Duncan, Lindsey Wilson women's basketball assistant coach, was named Women's Basketball Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year, announced WBCA officials on Thursday.
"I am extremely honored to be recognized for this award," Duncan said. "Being a part of this program as a player and now as a coach has shaped who I am and has been a full-circle experience. I am so grateful for the staff and players who have helped mold me into the coach I have become. I could not have done it without them. This honor means a little extra."
Duncan helped lead Lindsey Wilson to a 23-9, 7-5 Mid-South Conference record and a trip to the NAIA Round of 16 in March for the first time since 2019. Duncan was also named the Mid-South Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.
The women's basketball team defeated six ranked opponents as well as four programs that were receiving votes. Lindsey Wilson averaged 74.7 points this season while holding opponents to 64.0.
The WBCA Assistant Coach of the Year award honors one associate head coach or
assistant coach in each membership division who exemplifies dedication to their
program, student-athletes, and head coach. It recognizes their impact on the court,
mentorship of fellow coaches, and professionalism.
"I am extremely proud that Coach Duncan has received this award, " shared Head Coach John B. Wethington. "She has worked very hard to make an impact on and off the court. I am so glad that she is receiving the national recognition that she has worked so hard for and is very deserving of."
Duncan was one of six assistant coaches to receive the honor, exemplifying what it means to be a role model and change maker on and off the court.
