MONTGOMERY, W.Va. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's basketball teams dropped a doubleheader to West Virginia Tech on Saturday at the Baisi Athletic Center.
The inaugural visit to the newest member of the Mid-South Conference produced a 66-58 women's loss and a 59-57 men's loss.
The Blue Raider women committed 24 turnovers and shot just 28.8 percent (17-of-59) to fall to 8-15 overall and 2-1 in the MSC.
Lindsey Wilson juniors Kara Osterfeld and Krystal Jackson each scored 13 points to lead the Blue Raiders. West Virginia Tech's Kierra Wilkins led the Golden Bears (17-4, 2-1 in the MSC) with 15 points.
In the men's game, the Blue Raiders (16-5, 1-2) squandered a 13-point first half lead to drop their second straight league game.
WV Tech limited the Blue Raiders to just 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the field, including five of 20 from three-point range.
Lindsey Wilson played without its second leading scorer -- senior guard
Jeremy Johnson -- and leading scorer junior forward
Lloyd Lewis played with a severely sprained ankle.
Lewis -- who made just two of 11 shots from the field -- led the Blue Raiders with 14 points. He was 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Sophomore
Brandon Adams chipped in 12 points.
WV Tech's Brent Butler led three Golden Bears (10-11, 2-1) in double figures with 14 points. Armand Ivory (13 points) and Ronald Eskridge (12) also hit the double figure mark.
The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's teams return to action on Thursday, February 1, as they travel to Pikeville (Ky.) College. The women's game tips-off at 5 p.m. CST with the men's game following at approximately 7 p.m. CST at the Expo Center in downtown Pikeville.
