Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team's dream of a repeat championship ended tonight with a 2-1 loss to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University in the national semifinals at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
The Blue Raiders' season ends with a 17-3-3 record.
Azusa Pacific advances to Tuesday night's national championship match against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College, who beat Lee University 2-0 in the other semifinal.
Lindsey Wilson and Azusa Pacific (20-1-1) each had chances to score in the opening half but were turned away each time in a scoreless first half.
In the second half, Azusa's Randie Massaro scored the game's first goal in the 49th minute on a header from four yards out. Lynsey Domene's corner kick reached the far side of the penalty box and Massaro found the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
Domene added the insurance and eventual game-winning goal in the 69th minute from 20 yards out to give Azusa a 2-0 lead.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Kimmia Parker cut the lead in half in the 80th minute off a free kick assist from sophomore Omolyn Davis.
But the Blue Raiders could get no closer and their reign as national champions ended with the 2-1 loss.
