COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team fought off West Virginia University Institute of Technology (W.V.) 1-0 tonight.
The match was a physical battle from start to finish as the teams combined for 23 fouls and five yellow cards.
Lindsey Wilson controlled the tempo of the game. The Blue Raiders recorded eight shots on goal while the Golden Bears had zero.
West Virginia Tech sophomore goalkeeper Jose Poggioli was a wall in the net stoning seven shots by Lindsey Wilson.
The match was tied going into halftime.
In the 70th minute freshman forward Moses Aduny headed a beautiful crossing pass from senior midfielder Turlien Romulus into the back of the net, giving the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead and eventual victory.
It was Aduny's team leading ninth goal and his second game winning goal on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Michael Smith currently has a 525 minute shutout steak and is 4-0-1 on the season. Smith also has recorded 3 and 1/2 shutouts.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 25 as the Blue Raiders face Embry-Riddle (AZ.) at Lindsey Wilson Park.
