FRESNO, Calif. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team's season ended today with a 1-0 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University in the NAIA National Tournament second round at Ramirez Field on Fresno Pacific University's campus.
Despite outshooting the Cougars 29-6 for the match, the No. 3-seeded Blue Raiders were unable to score against MVNU goalkeeper Alex Stout. Stout finished with nine saves en route to the shutout win.
Lindsey Wilson's season ends with an 18-2-1 record.
Mount Vernon Nazarene senior Adam Worley scored the game's lone goal in the 69th minute on a cross from junior midfielder Chris Mast.
Mast dribbled down the right flank to the goal line and served the ball into the penalty area. Worley ran onto to ball and hit the back of the net.
The Blue Raiders finished with nine shots on goal and a plethora of near misses, but were unable to score.
The No. 14-seeded Cougars (17-3-2) advance to the Wednesday's national quarterfinals where they face the winner of Westmont (Calif.) College and Baker (Kan.) University.
