Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team's season ended here tonight to Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) College with a 73-61 loss in the NAIA National Tournament second round at Oman Arena.
The Blue Raiders (22-12) shot just 33.8 percent (23-of-68) for the game and were never able to get on track offensively en route to the season-ending loss.
Lewis-Clark State advances to Saturday's quarterfinals where they will face top-seeded and undefeated Union (Tenn.) University at 8 p.m. CT.
The Warriors (29-4) trailed for just 30 seconds in the opening the half and led 29-27 at the break.
"We actually felt pretty good at halftime," Lindsey Wilson coach John B. Wethington said. "We felt we played as poor of a half of basketball as we could and were just down two."
Out of the locker room, Lewis-Clark jumped out to a 38-33 lead at the 15:31 mark before the Blue Raiders tied the game at 43-43 with 12 minutes left.
The Warriors -- who have won 11 straight -- scored the next 10 points to lead 53-43 with 8:51 remaining.
"That run really hurt us," Wethington said. "We just were never able to rebound from it and you have to give them all the credit for really taking us out of our game."
Lindsey Wilson senior Kera Gibson ended the Warrior run with a put-back basket to cut the Lewis-Clark State lead to 53-45. That would be as close as the Blue Raiders would get.
Lewis-Clark State extended its lead to as many as 14 points on five different occasions before winning 73-61.
"Tonight was their night," Wethington said. "It doesn't diminish what this team has done this season and these seniors have done over their careers.
"They can walk away from this tournament with their heads held high and know they did something very special here this week."
Lewis-Clark State finished shooting 48.1 percent (25-of-52) from the field and out-rebounding the Blue Raiders 43-34.
Four Warriors scored in double figures led by junior forward Sadie Short's 19 points. She also added 10 rebounds. Senior guard Katie Hart added 13 points and seniors Mandy Troutt and Vanessa West each contributed 12 points.
