Women's Soccer Wins Home Debut, Beats Trinity International 5-0

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- A steady downpour did not dampen the Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer 2008 home debut as the Blue Raiders shut out visiting Trinity International (Ill.) University 5-0 on Friday night at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Lindsey Wilson (3-0-0) proved worthy of its No. 4 ranking as the Blue Raiders controlled the game -- despite playing at times in heavy rains -- from the beginning and coasted to the win.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore forward Kimmia Parker scored in the game's seventh minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Ida Gregersen to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead.

Gregersen played the ball from the center line onto the foot of Parker outside the box. Parker chipped the ball over a charging Trinity International goalkeeper Rebekah Niedermayer to give the Blue Raiders the lead.

Seven minutes later freshman forward Louise Christensen scored her first career goal off a Parker assist to push the lead to 2-0.

The Blue Raiders stretched their lead to 3-0 as sophomore reserve Katy Gilmour blasted a shot from the top of the "D" for her first goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Rikke Bottcher assisted -- her first of three assists -- on the Gilmour goal in the 40th minute to give Lindsey Wilson the three goal lead entering halftime.

In the second half, Parker scored her second of the night and her fourth goal of the season. Parker and Bottcher connected at the 65:28 mark to give the Blue Raiders a 4-0 lead. At the 68:01 mark, the Blue Raiders closed the scoring as Gregersen netted her third of the season off Bottcher's third consecutive assist to give Lindsey Wilson the 5-0 win.

Junior goalkeeper Carrie Revlett picked up her first shutout of the season collecting a pair of saves to preserve the clean sheet. Niedermayer finished allowing five goals while stopping five Lindsey Wilson shots.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game out-shooting the Trojans (3-2-0) 14-3.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, September 12, as the Blue Raiders host Saint Xavier (Ill.) University at Lindsey Wilson Park.
