COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Junior forward Viktoria Krell received a ball prior to Lindsey Wilson College's game against Indiana University Southeast for reaching 1,000 points in her career, then immediately went to work towards 2,000.

Krell posted a team-high 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Blue Raiders fended off the Grenadiers, 63-54, at Biggers Sports Center on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders improve to 2-0 on the season with the win, while IU Southeast (2-1) drops its first game of the season.

Senior Sierra Rambert joined Krell in double figures with 13 points for Lindsey Wilson. The Grenadiers were led by juniors Whitney Duncan and Tia Wineinger with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

After both teams stuttered out of the gate shooting a combined 0-for-10 from the field, Krell finally put a basket on the scoreboard at the 16:38 mark in the first half. Krell then found Rambert cutting to the basket for an assist that gave the Blue Raiders a 4-0 run to start the game.

Freshman Jessica Prewett drained a shot inside the paint to bring IU Southeast within two (10-8), but the comeback was short lived as Lindsey Wilson went on a 17-0 run to take a 27-8 lead with four minutes left in the half.

The Grenadiers never fully recovered from their early hole and trailed 31-19 at halftime after outscoring the Blue Raiders 11-4 down the stretch.

At the break, Lindsey Wilson was shooting 41.2 percent from the field compared to just 24.2 percent for the Grenadiers. Both teams struggled from behind the arc with the Blue Raiders holding the slight advantage, 16.7 percent to 14.3.

IU Southeast outscored Lindsey Wilson 35-32 in the second half, but never gained enough momentum to seriously threaten the Blue Raider lead.

One of the main reasons the Grenadiers failed to recover from their early deficit was Krell.

The Ludwigsburg, Germany native posted 14 of her 20 points in the second half, including three offensive rebounds that she turned into quick put backs.

The Blue Raiders improved their shooting in the second half, hitting 57.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.

Lindsey Wilson struggled with free throws all game, shooting just 18.8 percent from the line. IU Southeast knocked down 46.2 percent of its attempts.
