PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Junior Carnell Learmond scored a game-high two goals, while five other Blue Raiders netted a goal as the Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team blanked Pikeville (Ky.) College, 7-0, on Monday in the last game of the regular season for both teams.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson wrapped up the Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship and will play Pikeville again at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday in the first round of the MSC Tournament at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders outshot Pikeville 42-1, with 21 of their attempts on goal. Lindsey Wilson finished with the edge in corner kicks as well, 12-0.
The offense, in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair, didn't start until the 28th minute of the first half.
Learmond gave the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead with the unassisted score, but Lindsey Wilson was held without another goal the rest of the frame, entering the break with a 1-0 lead.
The action picked up in the second half. After sophomore defender Michael Azira and Learmond scored back-to-back goals in the 61st and 62nd minutes, Lindsey Wilson had increased its lead to 3-0.
Finishing out the scoring for the Blue Raiders was senior defender Shaun Francis in the 64th minute, sophomore forward Moses Aduny in the 66th minute, freshman midfielder Mat Luak in the 80th minute and freshman defender Sicelo Buthelezi in the 89th minute.
Freshman midfielder Lebogang Moloto (2), junior defender Zetroy Robertson and sophomore defender Hezekiah Weiss dished out assists for Lindsey Wilson.
